I Believe I Can See The Future
December 6, 2008I believe I can see the future, teriak Trent Reznor vokalis Nine Inch Nails. Bukan karena dia psychic atau paranormal, tapi ‘cause I repeat the same routine’. I think I used to have a purpose.But then again, that might have been a dream.
Ketika kita terjebak dalam rutinitas yg sama setiap hari, kita merasa bosan. Kita bosan karena kita tahu how this will end. Melihat masa depan seperti melihat ke cermin. Semua berulang dan tidak ada perubahan.
Bahkan orang yg kerjanya traveling 80% seperti gue saja bisa bosan. Karena semuanya membentuk ritme yg sama. Project, meeting lewat web, terbang ke negara tujuan, presentasi di depan customer, bikin dokumentasi, conference call, testing di lab, implementasi di lapangan, project hand over, move on to the next country.
Buat yg belum pernah merasakan mungkin merasa ini gaya hidup yg menarik. Tapi buat yg sudah sering, project, customer dan negara yg berbeda pun bisa membentuk pattern yg sama. Pola yg berulang, yg kemudian menjadi membosankan. Awalnya berupa skill yg harus dipelajari, tapi kemudian sudah menjadi second nature.
Oleh karena itu, gue sering break the rules. Do the unexpected.
Gue tidak pernah pake template atau business flow yg sudah di define. I always make my own template.
Tujuannya cuma satu: membunuh kebosanan. Keluar dari pattern.
